An Orillia woman, Angela Rehhorn, was tragically killed on the March 10, 2019 Ethiopia Airlines crash. Rehhorn had grown up in Orillia, attending Patrick Fogarty Catholic Secondary School and participating in local competitive soccer and swimming teams. She later pursued a BSc in Marine Biology and Sustainability from Dalhousie University. After graduating, Rehhorn returned to the Orillia community to work for the Couchiching Conservancy and she was deeply involved as a participant of the Canadian Wildlife Federation’s Canadian Conservation Corps. She was respected and admired by all of her peers and coworkers within these roles, and described as a “beautiful, courageous, and tenacious daughter” by her parents within her obituary. Rehhorn had been travelling to participate in the United Nations Environmental Assembly in Nairobi, Kenya when her life was taken too soon on the Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft flight.

The Argus wishes to express its sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Angela Rehhorn, and to the family and friends of all 157 individuals who were on this flight.
