Six Drink Recipes to Get Your Caffeine Fix

Energy inducing drinks to help you meet that 11:59 pm deadline!

With the endless quizzes, questions and assignments that accompany online university, many students need an extra energy boost to help them along! The following caffeine-rich recipes have been tested, tasted and Argus-approved for you to enjoy at home.

Iced Matcha Green Tea Latte

Is it too late in the season to enjoy cold drinks? I like to blend this recipe with ice but you can do as you please!

  1. In a glass jar, mix 1tsp of matcha with ½ tsp of water. It should look like a paste.

  2. Add 1 cup of vanilla almond milk.

  3. Add sugar, honey, or agave to taste.

*NOTE: I tried to do this right after I had run out of matcha so I made a green tea syrup. To do this, I combined equal parts of water and sugar in a pot and brought it to a boil. I then added three green tea bags and let it cool before adding.

Homemade French Vanilla Coffee Creamer

This recipe is fantastic to make at the beginning of the week then add to your coffee as you need it, instead of throwing things together each day.

  1. In a container, add 1 ¾ cups of milk and 1 ¾ cups of sweetened condensed milk.

  2. Add 1 tsp of vanilla.

  3. Shake it up and leave it in your fridge!

Pumpkin Spice Latte

Obviously, I had to include a classic PSL. This recipe makes enough to enjoy with a friend. Happy fall!

  1. In a saucepan, mix together 2 cups of milk, 3 tbsp of pumpkin puree, and 1 tbsp of light brown sugar.

  2. Cook on medium heat while whisking until steamy but do not let it boil!

  3. Remove from heat and mix in ½ tsp of pumpkin pie spice and 2 tsp of vanilla.

  4. Whisk in ½ cup of strongly brewed coffee.

  5. Divide into two cups and sweeten as you please.

Vanilla Chai Tea Latte

When I made this recipe, I used vanilla almond milk instead of regular milk- I would highly recommend it!

  1. Boil one cup of water then pour it into a mug.

  2. Place two black tea bags in the mug.

  3. Add 1 tsp of cinnamon, ½ tsp of ground ginger, and ¼ tsp of ground allspice.

  4. Meanwhile, in a saucepan on medium heat, add 1 cup of milk, ¼ cup of packed brown sugar, and 2 tbsp of french vanilla creamer (a recipe you now know!).

  5. When the sugar has been dissolved, add the ingredients of the saucepan into the tea you have made.

Mocha Frappuccino

This chocolatey drink gave me all the energy I needed for hours! I took the liberty of adding a little bit of peppermint extract to this one and it was delicious.

  1. In a blender, combine 2 cups of cooled strong coffee, ½ cup of sweetened condensed milk, ½ tsp of pure vanilla extract, and 1tbsp of cocoa powder.

  2. Add three cups of ice to the blender and continue on the ‘pulse’ setting.

  3. Pour into a cup and drink up!

Butter Coffee

This one is for my keto friends… it tasted good and yet I still don’t know how I feel about it.

  1. Combine 1 cup of hot coffee, 2 tbsp of unsalted butter, and 1 tbsp of coconut oil in a blender.

  2. The mixture should smooth and frothy by the time you’re done mixing.

  3. Drink up and enjoy the lack of carbs!

I hope you enjoy these drinks as much as I have and, if all else fails, don’t be afraid to brew a pot of strong, black coffee to help you through those all-nighters!
