Study Abroad!

Have you ever wanted to wander out into the world by yourself? Discover different cultures and ways of living? Are you a student that wishes to break out of your shell and leave your comfort zone? If so, Lakehead’s Study Abroad Program is perfect for you!

Study Abroad is a way to incorporate the global experience into your education. It is an opportunity to pursue your studies in a foreign country. Students that wish to study abroad for one or two semesters can do so while retaining full registration status at Lakehead University or vice versa. Students are offered two different ways to study abroad; Outbound study and Inbound study.

Under the outbound study program, students can travel abroad, study and make new friends. Lakehead is partnered with multiple prestigious institutions around the world. Students can go study in Australia, Finland, Germany, and the United Kingdom among several other promising countries. As per Lakehead policy, the credits that are taken during your study abroad program will transfer as a pass/failure. Although in the case that you are obligated to maintain an average for a scholarship, grades will be considered. It is also important to note that transfer credits must be approved by the heads of the related program. The best part of studying abroad under Lakehead’s exchange program is that students continue to pay the regular tuition fees without having to pay any additional tuition to the partner institute. OSAP recipients do not have to worry about losing their eligibility either. Moreover, students are also offered the same services as international students. To qualify for the Study Abroad program, students must meet certain requirements

  1. Maintain an academic average of 70%

  2. Present themselves as outstanding ambassadors of Lakehead University

  3. Be a full-time returning student

The inbound study program allows exchange students from a partner institute to study at Lakehead. Like the outbound study program, exchange students do not have to pay any tuition fees to Lakehead. However, it is their responsibility to account for residence fees, ancillary fees, and the University Health Insurance Plan. Incoming exchange students must be nominated to Lakehead by the partner institutions in order to be eligible for the program.
Studying Abroad is a great way to broaden your horizons and gain valuable experiences. For more information visit the Lakehead International Website!
