Five Events for the Final Stretch

By Brandy Bond, Staff Writer

With only a couple weeks left in the semester it can be easy to become unmotivated and fed up with school. The days seem longer and the assignments and tests are like a never-ending battle. But thankfully there’s some great events happening around the city to help end your end-of-the-year blues.

  1. St. Patrick’s Day at The Outpost

St. Paddy’s day is a great way to let loose and have fun with your pals. This St. Patrick’s Day themed event is held at the Outpost on March 17th and begins as early as 11:00 AM. There’s no cover fees, and all tankards, team pitchers, and Irish bomb cars will be on special all day. So, if you’re over 19 and are in the St. Paddy’s Day spirit then this is the event for you.

  1. Poetry Night, Reading Series and Acoustic Performance

Here’s an event if you love to support our local artists.. Arts night, held by The Nest Studio, is happening on March 18th at 6:00 PM. The event features a lovely collection of visual, literary, and musical art at the Creative on Algoma Street. For either $15 at the door or $10 dollars online, you can enjoy a fun filled evening of art.

  1. Lakehead University Major Studio Reception

The Lakehead University Major Studio Reception is an exhibition display of the work of fourth year visual arts students, as well as the works of faculty members. This event is free and is held on March 22nd from 7:30 – 10:30 PM at the Thunder Bay Art Gallery. This is a great way to get involved in the Lakehead community and support your fellow Thunderwolves.

  1. Craig Cardiff at the Study Coffee House

Craig Cardiff is a Canadian folk singer who just so happens to be performing at the Study Coffee House on March 23rd. To date, he has released sixteen albums and has toured both North America and Europe. The event is from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM and is either $15 online or $20 dollars at the door. This event is right here on the Thunder Bay campus and is a great way to spend a Friday night after a stressful week.

  1. 9th Annual BUNNY HOP Thunder Bay

Bunny Hop is happening once again this year on April 6th from 7:00 PM to 2:00 AM. This event is a great way to celebrate the end of the year with your friends. You must be 19+ to attend and it is $15 per ticket. You can buy your tickets individually, however it’s a great event to do with friends as you will be split up into teams. Your 15 dollars will get you exclusive shot and drink specials at every bar, a bunny hop T-Shirt, lanyard, sharpie, shot glass, stickers, and pub crawl map. The bars that will be included in the crawl include: NV nightclub, Tony and Adam’s, The Waterhouse, Black Pirates Pub, and The Foundry. Additionally, with the purchase of your tickets you also receive exclusive access to all of the participating bars for the entire evening (which means direct entry and no cover!). So, if you’re interested in having a good time with the bonus of chances to win gifts and prizes then this event is definitely worth looking into.

Although the end of the year can be extremely busy, it’s important to make time to give yourself something to look forward to. This way, even though the end of the year may feel overwhelming, you have something to keep you going and keep you motivated.
