https://spellcheckplus.com/

Spell check plus has both an English and French version, allowing you to edit your text in both official languages. The free version will edit up to 250 words of text by highlighting errors and helping users to understand the corrections. The website is great for students looking to understand their mistakes and better their writing while editing their work.

The Lakehead library website is a vast database that enables students to gain access to a variety of resources. By searching through the library’s archive, you can find materials for a variety of topics and borrow any articles or books you may need through Click and Collect book pick-up or digitized versions online. You can also chat with a librarian online if you need any assistance while conducting your research.

Lakehead students based in Thunder Bay are also able to book individual study rooms at the Chancellor Paterson Library through the website. You can select what time you wish to access the library and reserve a spot. Although certain features have been cut back for safety reasons, these study rooms give students the opportunity to have a study space outside of home.

Grammarly is an extension students can install to their browser which will automatically generate editing capabilities onto any browser. Although there is a fee for the full version, the free version of this extension will still catch some errors students commonly make while typing.

Past Exams in myCourselink

Under the D2L myCourselink page, there is a feature which provides a pdf version of final exams from the past three years for specific classes. Students can access these solution-less exam questions if they self-register for the Past Exams “course”. First click on Self-Registration: Academic Support and Training in the Support box near the top-right of myCourselink, then select Past Exams from that list. Going to this resource can give students an idea of the format of the exam and give them an idea of the type of questions that may come up based on what has been done in the past. With access to multiple exams that can be completed for practice, it is worth checking this feature out!
