Orillia Golfs!

Lakehead Orillia Varsity golf team competed in their one and only tournament of the season over the weekend. The tournament was the 2021 OCAA provincial golf championship and was held in Sault Ste Marie. The team had a  quick turnaround from tryouts, to practice, and then to the tournament all within September, making the season only a couple of weeks. Normally the team has 2-3 events to play but with the pandemic, only one event was offered.

The team this year was made up of Jackson Beck, Noah Collins, Ronnie Money, Ethan Sleep and Josh Brown, with coaching by Terry Smith.

The team coach Terry Smith, a teaching golf professional, was very happy with the start of this event, stating that “We finished fourth in division 2! Best Lakehead finish ever!” Terry Smith went on to note that it was the best since he has been coaching the team: “since I have been involved, for sure, but I think the historians will have to check that.”

A good finish was great to see for a varsity team here at the Orillia Campus! The season will pick up again in Fall 2022.
