Love Week at Lakehead Orillia
Monday, February 10th: Blind Date With a Book Swap
Wednesday, February 12th: Blind Date With a Book Swap at Heritage Place
On February 10th and 12th, Student Health and Wellness will host a book exchange in Simcoe Hall from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm on Monday and in Heritage Place from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm on Wednesday for all literature-loving students. Bring a book you are willing to give away and wrap it up with the materials provided. All book genres are welcome; however, romance books are ideal (if possible) to complement Love Week’s goal to educate students on healthy romantic practices. Furthermore, the romance books will be analyzed to construe red and green flags. Join Student Health and Wellness afterwards for the Plenty of Fish game for a fun and informative experience of healthy connections and relationships!
Monday, February 10th: Rom-coms and Redflags
Lakehead’s Peer Wellness Educators and the Student Life Committee will host a movie night in the residence social lounge on February 10th from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Spend the evening with your friends, enjoy some snacks, watch the kissing booth, and collectively identify all the relationship red flags in the movie. Please note that this event is open to resident students ONLY.
Tuesday, February 11th: Cupid’s Care Package
February 11th is Student Appreciation Day, and Student Health and Wellness has curated an event that is oriented towards celebrating the students at Lakehead. Stop by the Student Health and Wellness table in Simcoe Hall from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm where Valentine's Day cards and sexual wellness kits will be provided.
Friday, February 14th: Valentine Card Making at Heritage Place
Writing Valentine's Day cards is a perfect way to practice gratitude and get creative. On Friday, February 14th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Heritage Place, Student Health and Wellness will be operating a card and craft station for students to stop by and create a card for their loved ones.
All Month Long: Pee for Poptarts
Sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBIs) are serious conditions that require careful attention, especially if you are sexually active. However, please acknowledge that some infections spread without sexual transmission and have no visible symptoms; therefore, testing is recommended for everyone. Fortunately, Student Health and Wellness is equipped to supply students with STBBI testing resources. This February, book an appointment with Student Health and Wellness for STBBI testing to receive a complementary pop tart.
How to Apply:
Request an appointment with the Nurse Practitioner through MySuccess using the "Orillia Wellness Request Form". You will then receive an email with a link to book your appointment online. Please note that appointments are available on Thursdays at the Wellness Centre, room 1012 in the residence building.
