Orillia is abundant with festivity during the Christmas season with endless activities for all ages to enjoy. With just a simple bus ride from Lakehead to proximate areas in Orillia, all events are easily accessible and affordable. I’ll be sharing a list of the most popular events happening locally  throughout December, perfect for taking a break from your studies and getting into the Christmas spirit this season!

Christmas Market on Friday, November 29th:

Orillia Christmas markets are prosperous with festive treats, holiday activities and crafts, jubilant decor, palatable meals, and seasonal items for purchase. The market will be located inside the Orillia Public Library and the Orillia Opera House from 3 pm to 7 pm. This is the final day it will be open for the Christmas season, so do not miss out on a wonderful and joyous experience.

Christmas in The Court on Friday, December 6th:

Volonte Spa will be hosting its 2nd Annual Christmas in the Court on Friday, December 6th from 6 pm to 9 pm at 64 Mississaga Street West, Orillia, ON. This event will include a diverse collection of joyous fun and entertainment with vendors, a hot chocolate bar, photos with Santa and the Grinch, additional snacks, and music! This event is family-friendly and welcomes the whole community while being free of charge! However, they will still be accepting donations for the Orillia sharing place food drive if you have any money to offer! So, dress warm, bring your friends and family, and your Christmas spirit to support Volonte Spa’s 2nd Annual Christmas in the Court!

Ugly Christmas Sweater Dance Party on Saturday, December 7th:

If you enjoy music, night outs, dancing, and spending time with friends, this is the perfect Christmas event for you! The Ugly Christmas Sweater Dance Party is a festive night filled with merriment and jiving that will be taking place at ODAS Park on Saturday, December 7th from 8 pm to 1 am. This event is 19+ due to the access to alcoholic beverages and the tickets are $20 in advance, or $25 at the door. However, the money collected will be donated to local toy drives for children in need. Therefore, bring your ugliest sweater, expect all your favorite hits courtesy of the DJ, and show your Christmas spirit on the night of December 7th.

A Very Vintage Christmas from Friday, November 29th to Friday, December 20th:

Coldwater Main Street Businesses are hosting a 1920s Christmas event from 3 pm to 6 pm from November 29th to December 20th at Main Street Coldwater. This event will be an unbelievable scene consisting of sights mimicking the effect of a time capsule. There will be shopping, music, seasonal-themed beverages, snacks, carolers, and exclusive in-store offers. Ugly Christmas sweaters or vintage clothing, and food bank donations are encouraged. Donations also give you a chance to enter in draws and be granted discounts! You will not want to miss out on this opportunity to enjoy a different outlook on Christmas!

Downtown Orillia’s Decorations:

Visit downtown Orillia for a hallmark movie-esque atmosphere with dazzling lights embellished all over the town, and the annual 25-foot Christmas tree that trademarks the town’s enticement to tourists. It is a calming atmosphere to absorb the Christmas spirit with decorated storefronts and bakeries selling festive treats. Taking a walk downtown is an innovative way to de-stress, and enjoy the upcoming Christmas season, whether it is by yourself with a pair of headphones or friends and family!
