Work-Study at Lakehead!
Work-Study is a program offered by many colleges and universities that allows students to work part-time on campus to earn money to help pay for their education. Through the program, students can gain valuable work experience while still in school, develop professional skills, and make connections with faculty and staff on campus. Work-study jobs typically pay minimum wage or higher.
Lakehead University offers a unique opportunity for students to gain work experience while completing their degree through its Work-Study program. This program allows students to work on campus in various departments while balancing their academic commitments. The Work-Study program at Lakehead (LUWSP) is designed to help students gain practical experience and earn money to support their education. The program is open to undergraduate students enrolled in 3 FCEs or a 60% course load. Students are allowed to work part-time hours every week during the academic year, and full-time during the summer months.
While the fall/winter work period has lapsed, Lakehead still offers multiple work opportunities to students during the spring/summer period. The spring/summer program runs from late April to the end of August.

Since the program is designed for students, employers are understanding of their academic commitments and work with them to create a schedule that works for both the student and the employer.
The Work-Study program also provides students with a steady stream of income that can be used to offset the costs of tuition, textbooks, and living expenses. Moreover, students who participate in the LUWSP also have the opportunity to build a professional network. Students are able to connect with faculty, staff, and other professionals in their field, which can be helpful when seeking internships, or jobs. Students can also gain valuable experience working in fields they may be interested in. Given that there are a wide variety of positions available, students can tailor their work experience to their academic and career interests.
